Awards
In 1989 we were nominated for the BBC It´s My City Awards for supporting the community - we were awarded 3rd place in the North West.
We received the Nationwide Award for Voluntary Endeavour in 1997.
Our crowing glory has to be 2003 when we received the Queen´s Award for Voluntary Service and three members of the committee were invited to a reception at St James´s Palace by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. We then held our own reception at the World of Glass for everybody who had been involved with Connect to see Trish Almond, our then Chair, presented with the award by the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside.
Trish on behalf of Connect said "We are all very proud to have received the Queen´s Award. It is wonderful to be given this recognition for all the hard work the charity has done over the past 23 years. We would like to thank all our volunteers, without whom we could not function, for giving their time and energy to supporting Connect. We would also like to thank Connect staff and associated professionals for the continued support and advice. Finally we would like to give recognition and thanks to the partners of the Connect volunteers who by giving their help and support allow us to continue working towards making Connect the successful organisation it has become."
In 2006 we received the Investing in Volunteer Award for our commitment to volunteer development
Members of Connect have also been awarded for their commitment to the community. Over the years individual committee members and volunteers have been awarded between them, 8 CVS Volunteer awards, 2 Merseyside Women Making a Difference Awards, a Tesco X Factor Award, and an Asda St Helens Local Hero Award.
